How to Choose the Right Selective School for Your Child

When applying for admission to NSW selective schools, parents must choose three schools to help ensure qualification after the testing process. Deciding which to choose comes with a variety of considerations that must be weighed carefully to help the process go as smoothly as possible. Most importantly, you should choose selective schools you have a high chance of qualifying for. While you may feel tempted to go for the most prestigious or challenging, do not risk being left out completely if tests scores and other things do not go as expected.

Location and Transportation

The selective high schools range across New South Wales. Choose three options either close enough to your home or easily accessible through available transportation. Besides agricultural schools that offer room and board, it is your responsibility to get students there.

Contributions and Costs

Certain selective high schools ask for voluntary donations to pay for educational services, textbooks, and other materials. Students may have costs of their own that must fit into the family budget. Selective high school tuition is free, however.

Reputation and Ranking

It makes sense to send your academically gifted child to the best quality possible. This can open up opportunities for networking and careers in the future in wonderful ways. These are generally ranked as fully selective and specifically focused on academics above all else.

Another consideration to take into account when choosing the right selective school for your child is whether you prefer single-sex or co-ed environments. Weigh the advantages of less distraction versus the disadvantages of limited social opportunities and shared perspectives.
